6TH OPEN SHOW 2016

Secretary's show report

The sixth all Gloster show was held at Morriston Memorial Hall near Swansea. The day turned out to be lovely, fine and crisp. A total of 283 Birds were entered with the Best Gloster, Best Champion and Best Buff going to Graham Beech and Paul Brown with a lovely Flighted,Buff Variegated Consort hen who had lovely feather and type, they also won Best Grizzle. Best Opposite Head was Andy Parnell with lovely Unflighted Three Parts Dark Corona cock, Andy also won Best Buff Corona, Best Three Parts Dark Corona, Best White to Allied with a Blue Consort hen. Wayne and Andy Fletcher won Best Three Parts Dark Consort, Mark Warren won Best Yellow Consort with a Lovely cock which was also Best Yellow, he also won Best Cinnamon Corona and Best Cinnamon with a lovely Corona hen. Andy Whittle won Best Cinnamon Consort and Geoff Dinham won Best White to Allied Corona, Best Yellow Corona went to Tony and Iona Purkis.

Best Novice was Steve Brown with a lovely Flighted Three Parts Dark Corona hen, Steve also won Best Novice Buff Corona, Best Novice Three Parts Dark Consort, Best Novice Three Parts Dark Corona, Best Novice Three Parts Dark, Best Novice Cinnamon Consort, Best Novice White to Allied Corona and Consort, and Best White to Allied. Best Novice Opposite Head was Ray and Carol Lootes with a lovely Unflighted Buff Variegated Consort hen, they also won Best Novice Buff Consort, Best Novice Buff, Best Novice Yellow Consort, Best Novice Yellow, Best Novice Cinnamon Corona, and Best Novice Cinnamon. Best Novice Yellow Corona went to Andrew Williams.
All winners were presented with mugs and over £205.00 in prize money, Graham and Paul must have enough mugs to open a cafe. Twenty one members sat down to a cooked breakfast and twenty two sat down for a chicken dinner with fruit and ice-cream to follow, I don't know where they put it all but they all went home more stuffed than a Christmas turkey.

Special thanks to out judges, Alan Hayward and Chris Shepherd, who did a fantastic job on the day. I hope they enjoyed themselves and many thanks for not claiming expenses.
Thanks to Dominic Avo for all his help and for donating six boxes of egg-food and a sack of canary seed. Thanks to our Show Manager Peter Watkins for all his hard work and special thanks for donating all the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize cards. Thanks to our stewards Vernon, Jason and Elis and special thanks to santa's little helper Iestyn who wrote all the prize cards even though he can't write or spell ha ha ha. Thanks to all the members who donated a raffle prize, special thanks to George Thompson for donating a pair of birds which raised £75.00 for the club funds. Thanks to our chefs Andrew and Ben who did a fantastic job in the kitchen, also thanks to Iona and Danielle for all their help in the kitchen, they must have made about 500 cups of tea and coffee. Thank you to all the fanciers who attended our show and to those who bought all the raffle tickets. Thank you for your continued support for the last six years, I hope to see you all at our 2017 show and may i wish you all a Happy Xmas and New Year. I hope you all have a great breeding season!!!
